RRC – Cold Water Rowing Policy

Purpose:
When water temperatures are below 15°C, cold water rowing protocols are in effect to reduce the risk of cold water immersion and injuries. Please review these key safety points to keep all members safe on the water:

🛶 On-Water Protocols

  • Safety launch required on water before any rowers launch. Must stay within 750m and visible at all times.

  • Coach boat must carry emergency equipement.

👕 Dress for Cold Water

  • Wear thermal, layered, moisture-wicking gear (avoid cotton).

⚠️ If You Capsize:

  • Do NOT swim to shore. Stay with your boat and try to get as much of your body out of the water.

  • Use the buddy system and wait for the coach boat.

🔒 Final Say

The Safety Officer or Head Coach has full authority to restrict or cancel rowing based on conditions.
