Learn To Row Programs
All new members must complete a Learn to Row program before they can register in any other membership. Participants are encouraged to upgrade to a Competitive Membership or Non-Competitive Memberships after completing on of the Learn to Row programs. A skills assessment determines whether an individual is sufficiently prepared to advance from this program into other programs.
High School Learn to Row Program
This program is for grade 6 - 12 students with limited or no previous rowing experience. Participants learn basic rowing techniques and terminology over 7 weeks. Classes typically begin the first week of May and continue until mid June – depending on weather and Spring conditions. Classes run Monday to Thursday each week from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. Participants will be notified of the exact starting date prior to the date classes begin. Participants will participate in a novice event at the Sprints Regatta the Regina Rowing Club will be hosting on June 10th.
Learn to Row
Learn to Row is for individuals with no previous rowing experience. Participants learn basic rowing techniques and terminology over four days (eight hours total). Learn to Row classes begin in May and continue throughout the summer. Participants register for Tuesday or Thursday evening classes. The Learn-to-Row class is for 4 weeks. New classes begin each month. We encourage participants to continue to enjoy the sport of rowing by continuing to row until the end of August one night a week for no extra cost to the athlete. All new members must complete the Learn to Row class before they can
register for any other membership in our club. Participants may also upgrade to a Competitive and Non-Competitive membership after completing their LTR class if participants would like to row more than one night a week.
Elementary Learn to Row Camps
We will be offering to 2 week long half day camps for children aged 10-13 years to learn to row during the summer holidays.
This Rowing Program is an excellent opportunity to do something completely different, get fit, and have fun! At the end of this program, you will have all the skills necessary to be rowing independently on the Wascana Lake. The camp is open to kids aged 10-13 years of age.
This will be a week-long half day summer camp at the following sessions and times:
Session 1: Tuesday, July 4th - Saturday, July 8th from 8:30-11:30 am
Session 2: Monday, August 21st - Friday, August 25th from 8:30-11:30 am
Adaptive rowing is available upon request
